Smoky Mountain Packing Essentials

Cell phone charger, medications, sunblock – everyone has their list of essentials when it comes to packing for vacation.   When you’re headed to Pigeon Forge for a well deserved getaway, that essentials list may need to get a bit longer. While no one wants to over pack, there are a few items you may overlook while filling your suitcase.  To help you enjoy your trip, here’s a list of items you shouldn’t forget to bring to your Smoky Mountain vacation.

1. Swim Suits

hot tub and indoor pool at Willow Brook Lodge

We don’t just have one pool and hot tub — we have two! With both an indoor and an outdoor pool, you can swim regardless of the weather!  During the summer months, enjoy the area’s natural beauty and sunshine while taking advantage of our outdoor pool. We also have our very own 75 foot water slide that kids of all ages love!  If Mother Nature isn’t cooperating, head inside to our indoor pool. Both pools feature hot tubs you can relax in!

2. Outerwear

everything to pack on vacation

You’d be surprised how quickly temperatures drop as the sun sets.  Summer days in Pigeon Forge can reach to the 90s in the afternoon before cooling off to 60-70 degrees in the evening.  Keep in mind, the higher the elevation, the cooler the temperatures. (Mount LeConte rarely gets over 80 degrees during the day!)  Be sure to pack in layers and include a light jacket or sweatshirt.

3. Comfortable Shoes

Comfortable shoes are one of the most important things you can pack for your Smoky Mountain vacation.  Strolling through Patriot Park, spending the day at Dollywood, or visiting one of the many area museums are just a few of the many opportunities to explore Pigeon Forge on foot.   Don’t forget to bring a good pair of hiking boots for exploring the area’s amazing hiking trails!

4. Camera

This is one vacation that you’ll want to capture all the beautiful moments of!  The Smoky Mountain sunrise and sunsets make for a beautiful memory you’ll want to share with your family and friends.  Whether it’s a smart phone or digital camera, make sure you include it on your packing list. Don’t forget extra batteries and chargers!

5. Binoculars

We have some truly spectacular views and amazing native wildlife.  You’ll definitely want a closer look at both! Better yet, you can also use them for star gazing at night.
